Thank you for contacting me. I'm glad you want to know more about me after seeing my photographs. My name is Izuky Pérez Hernández. I was born on September 12, 1982, in Banes, a beautiful town on the north coast of eastern Cuba.

It would be idyllic to think that I come from a family of artists or that I studied at a photography academy: nothing could be further from the truth! My photography training is entirely self-taught. After completing my studies in Industrial Electrical Maintenance and subsequently working for several years as a computer science teacher, in early 2006 I received my first brand-new SONY H1 digital camera as a gift. This changed my life forever; from that day on, I knew I wanted to be a photographer.

Thanks to the help of several friends and the ease of access to the Internet (prohibited for Cubans in those years), I was able to discover the wonderful world of photography. With a discourse outside the conventional rhetoric of Cuban photography today and combined with my admiration for the great photographers of Eastern Europe and some from North America, my years of tireless study and professional development have passed.

The versatility of the photographic genres I explore is probably one of the keys that has allowed me to advance professionally; although I prefer to focus my efforts on Destination Weddings and Artistic Nudes.

There are two things I couldn't live without: work and music. I also enjoy reading when I have time and traveling. I'm driven by a deep sense of nationalism; I love my land and my people. I'm a follower of Martí; I believe in the new man and in human improvement more than anything else. This is the Cuban who has decided to bet on himself, so that his work transcends borders and time.
